If you haven’t already made your summer plans, now is the time to get going!  What better place to unwind than our quiet island close to Newport.  Did you know that in addition to selling real estate, Island Realty also specializes in rentals?

Our rental department has an extensive list of charming cottages/homes available to suit any need, whether it’s a vacation home, long or short-term lease.  We are also Jamestown’s main source for locating rentals for the Naval War College.  While you’re here, take advantage of all that Jamestown has to offer.

You might try these fun activities:

-Go clam digging.  Then cook up your catch!

-Take a picnic to Ft. Wetherill State Park.

-Enjoy an evening in Newport by way of the 49 passenger water taxi that leaves from Conanicut Marina.

-Visit Beavertail Lighthouse, the third oldest in the country.

-Let the kids expend some energy at the playground.  It is a fantastic place to play, complete with Clatter bridge, SS Jamestown boat, sandbox and huge tire swing.  There are picnic tables and the Jamestown Public Library right next door, which offers story hours.

-Sunbathe and build sand castles at Mackerel Cove beach.

-Go for a bike ride and visit the historic windmill.

-When you’re done, treat yourself to an ice cream cone at Spinnakers.

Jamestown's West Ferry Neighbors Spread Their Enthusiasm

by Virginia Prichett 28. March 2011 11:36

Spring 2011 in West Ferry

During the winter months, I was in conversation with owners of a small cottage on Marine Avenue.   The time had come to sell.

Although the house is small, its location is wonderful.  From the front room, there is a limited view of the water.  In the winter, there is also a view of the water to the west.

I had just sold a house on Ocean Avenue about 3 months ago.

The house was listed on Thursday for $379,000.  I had an Open House on Sunday afternoon. The house was under contract by Sunday evening.

What did I learn?

I learned that there is amazing enthusiasm for West Ferry…..not just coming from those who want to be there, but from those who have lived there and enjoyed it for many, many years.   It was fabulous to have so many neighbors come in, but here is what I also learned.  When people love their neighborhood, they want to share. As they came in to see the house, they mentioned a brother, a sister, a friend, a daughter, all who they would love to have move to their neighborhood.

I wondered, “Could this be true of many neighborhoods in Jamestown?”  I know it’s true on my street……and I’m a north east dweller.  I love sharing my enthusiasm.

So thanks, West Ferry neighbors……you made my Sunday a great experience.

Open Houses a Success and Mackerel Cove

by Virginia Prichett 17. March 2011 10:47

Spring is rearing it's beautiful, sunny head here in Jamestown.  We have been lucky to enjoy some refreshing weather this week, signifying the light at the end of winter's tunnel.  It's open house season and what a start!  Island Realty held 3 open houses this past Sunday with around 50 people showing up to take a look.  Get ready for more to come.  Check the Jamestown Press every week for updates.

Springing forward even further, mark your calendars for the start of the summer season at Mackerel Cove on June 11.  For those of you that don't know, this is Jamestown's gem of a beach.  It is a fantastic place to spend the summer days.  It is staffed with lifeguards, has public bathrooms, great sand, calm waters and quite possibly the most enticing part...The Del's truck is parked there most days!

Here's a little teaser photo for what's to come!

Welcome to Island Realty - Welcome to Jamestown!

by Virginia Prichett 17. March 2011 09:45

If you are looking to buy, sell, or rent property in and around Conanicut Island, you’ve come to the right place.

Island Realty is the longest established real estate firm in Jamestown, RI.

At Island, we like the idea of doing one thing, and doing it consistently, and better, than anyone else. For our company, that thing is facilitating the purchase, sale and rental of (primarily) Conanicut Island properties.

We’ve been doing just that for the past 25 years. As agents and brokers, we work in Jamestown, we play in Jamestown, we live in Jamestown. Every one of us at Island Realty is a Jamestown based, full time real estate professional.

For the past ten years, under the ownership of Carol Hopkins and Ginny Prichett, the Island team has sold over $300,000,000 of real estate, right here.

We are unified in our commitment to service, and in operating at the highest professional standard. We contribute to the community. We play as a team. If you’re in town, feel free to stop in to our office at 4 Ferry Wharf - we’re here seven days a week. Yachtsmen, take advantage of our sail in service – we’ll pick you up right at the dock. We are always available and happy to show you around.

When it comes to real estate, nobody knows Conanicut Island, like Island.
